In the aftermath of the Madrid and London bombings, as well as the UK Buncefield Oil Depot Fire in December 2005, fire-rescue departments across Europe have been working to improve their ability to quickly and resolutely respond to breaches of national security. As a result they have been forced to focus on purchasing the specialized equipment they need to respond to any terrorist attack, no matter how unlikely or catastrophic, as well as all manner of natural disasters.

When it comes to fire-safety and security, ongoing innovation and quality assurance is essential. Europe’s Fire and Rescue teams have highlighted not only the need for new apparatus and retro-filled equipment, but also the need to know what products and options exist to best suit their needs.

HSE explores the latest trends and innovations in fire and safety solutions provision. It analyses the quality and efficiency of such solutions and relays this back to those who need it; the decision- makers who authorise the equipment, supplies and PPE purchases for the Fire and Rescue Departments across Europe.
